Hi Hilary! It’s raining here for a week which gives me terrible. Christmas week was nice: did a lot of decorations and sat looking at the Christmas trees and listening to Christmas music. How was your Xmas? Happy New Year
Another original design created by crazyruthie in postcard format; it must have taken ages to colour all those little shapes!
The postmark is barely visible, you can just make out the number 7 on the right which, along with the text, indicates that this card was received early in 2017 (this year).
The stamp is that Global universal stamp which, it occurs to me, may soon include the head and shoulders of the president! (Anything is possible).
Another card from CBC who I have become postcard pals with since starting this blog 🙂
To Hilary, Simon & Tallulah. We are having a great holiday, the weather is really hot, which makes a change! We have been busy visiting Disney World, Epcot, Sea World & the Kennedy Space Centre. Today we have been to Universal Studios & tonight we are going to a show with as much food & drink as you want! See you soon love Joanne & Nick
Phew! I’m exhausted just reading all this! Joanne & Nick are packing in the attractions during their stay.
Postmarked ‘ORLANDO 02 JUL 1991’ the card carries a 40 cent airmail stamp featuring William T. Piper. Another postmark featuring National Flag Day, which occurs each year on June 14, reminds us to ‘Pause For The Pledge‘ (this is partly obscured).
I have known Joanne nearly all my life; she is a bit younger than me and I remember her being born. Our families enjoyed regular weekend visits to each other’s homes as well as many camping and caravaning trips together around the UK. Her dad, John, was my dad’s best man and vice versa; our families have been friends for three generations now – it remains to be seen whether our off-spring will have the same commitment and stamina!
Hi, How’s it going? Got down south for Spring Break with all the other millions of students. It’s pretty happening though and the weather isn’t bad! I hope you are all alright and hopefully see you in the summer. Regards Rob.
Is this ‘The World’s Most Famous Beach’, as is suggested in the description on the back? What about Bondi in Australia? Maybe in 1992 Daytona was the most famous! Either way, Rob certainly seems quite impressed with it all.
The postmark is sharply legible, ‘DAYTONA BEACH FL 32120 PM 13 MAR 1992’ and the stamp is 40 cents featuring Claire Chennault, part of the Great Americans Series of stamps which were issued between 1980 and 1999.
Rob is my cousin, the only one my mother’s side. He spent several years working, studying and travelling abroad before finally settling on the other side of the world. I cannot recall if we saw him in the summer of ’92 as mentioned in his message; I believe the last time we met was in ’93 at a family wedding. We keep in touch via email, and, excitingly, this summer (2016) Rob and his family are visiting the UK; they plan to stay with us for a few days 🙂
